QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a phlebotomy program is preferred. Six months in a clinical setting is preferred. Completion of onsite training and competency testing. Must pass KBI, DCF child & adult abuse registry, motorvehicle screen, and background checks. Must have reliable and insured transportation.

4. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments with which to administer patient care.
5. Ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position requires a close professional relationship with the laboratory manager, staff, and patients to provide optimal
phlebotomy services. Work cooperatively with health care providers and the nursing staff and exercise discretion, patience, and tact in dealing with patients.
1. Maintain knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
2. Prepare patients before drawing blood, explain blood draw procedures to patients, and answer any questions about the process.
3. Verify patient information and label blood samples properly.
4. Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.
5. Gather medical testing material, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, and test tubes.
6. Must be able to use an LIS (Laboratory Information System) for patient order entry, sampling, resulting, faxing, and result inquiries.
7. Performs proficiency testing when delegated.
8. Annually reviews procedure manual and brings updates to the laboratory manager’s attention.
9. Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations, federal and state guidelines, and regulations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or the Chief Executive Officer.
